Who are we?
International Friendship Club hosts events, English classes, dinners, men’s nights, and more to connect Japanese to Americans because we believe good friends can change your life! After living as a foreigner in Japan for three years, Maddy experienced firsthand how difficult it can be to live in another country, but everything changed when she made a Japanese friend who helped her learn English, buy groceries, and adjust to the new culture. Her life abroad became so much more enjoyable. This is why she started IFC when she returned to America, to help others like her Japanese friend helped her!

私は三年間日本に外国人として住んでいました。日本語が難しくて、友達がいなくて、大変でした。そんな中、英語の教師をしていたわたしに生徒のお母さんが良くしてくださいました。そして私の日本の生活は良くなりました。隔週そのお母さんは私をスーパーに連れて行って、家で日本料理の作り方を教えてくれました。そこからもっと日本人の友達ができて、一緒に日本語を練習して、プレイデートをしました。友達がいると外国での生活が楽しくなるということを経験しました。
日本でそのような素晴らしい経験をすることが出来たので、アメリカに帰ったらわたしも同じようにアメリカで頑張る外国人の方々の力になりたいと思いました。これがInternational Friendship Clubを立ち上げた大きな理由です。
わたしは自分の経験を通して、良い友達に出会うことで人生が変わると信じています。このコミュニティが外国人の方々とアメリカ人を繋ぐ憩いの場になりますように！

An American family hosts a Japanese family for dinner.

A family-friendly English conversation class every Tuesday night in Alpharetta, 6-7PM.

Smaller English conversation classes for moms with young kids hosted in homes around north Atlanta.

An American and a Japanese are paired together and meet every other week to practice English speaking and learn about American life.
